And if the ear shall say, “Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body?
And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; it is not therefore not of the body.
If the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” is it not on the contrary still a part of the body?
If the ear should say, Because I am not the eye, I do not belong to the body, would it be therefore not [a part] of the body?
And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
And if the ear should say, “Because I’m not an eye, I don’t belong to the body,” it is not for that reason any less a part of the body.
And if the ear should say, ‘Because I’m not an eye, I don’t belong to the body’, it is not for that reason any less a part of the body.
If the ear says, “I’m not part of the body because I’m not an eye,” does that mean it’s not part of the body?
And if the ear says, “I’m not an eye, so I’m not part of the body,” that doesn’t make it stop being part of the body.
Or suppose an ear says, “I'm not an eye, and so I'm not part of the body.” Wouldn't the ear still belong to the body?
And if the ear say, Because I am not an eye I am not of the body, is it on account of this not indeed of the body?
And if the ear should say “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body”, it is not for this reason not a part of the body.
And if the ear should say, because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
The ear might say, “I am not an eye, so I don’t belong to the body.” But saying this would not make the ear stop being a part of the body.
If the ear could speak, it might say, ‘I am not an eye, so I do not belong to this body.’ But what it says makes no difference. It still belongs to the body.
If the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not part of the body,” it does not on that account cease to be part of the body.
And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body”, that would not make it any less a part of the body.
The ear might say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not part of the body.” But saying this would not stop the ear from being a part of the body.
And if the ear would say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body, is it therefore not of the body?
Or suppose an ear says, “I’m not an eye, so I’m not a part of the body!” Would that mean it’s no longer part of the body?
And if the ear were to say, “Because I am not an eye, I don't belong to the body,” that would not keep it from being a part of the body.
And if the ear should say, “Because I’m not an eye, I don’t belong to the body,” in spite of this it still belongs to the body.
The ear might say, “I am not an eye. So I am not part of the body.” But saying this would not make the ear stop being a part of the body.
And if the ear says, “Since I’m not an eye, I’m not part of the body,” that does not make it any less a part of the body, does it?
Now the body is not one member but many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand I don’t belong to the body,” does that alter the fact that the foot is a part of the body? Of if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye I don’t belong to the body,” does that mean that the ear really is no part of the body? After all, if the body were all one eye, for example, where would be the sense of hearing? Or if it were all one ear, where would be the sense of smell? But God has arranged all the parts in the one body according to his design. For if everything were concentrated in one part, how could there be a body at all? The fact is there are many parts, but only one body. So that the eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” nor, again, can the head say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body which have no obvious function are the more essential to health: and to those parts of the body which seem to us to be less deserving of notice we have to allow the highest honour of function. The parts which do not look beautiful have a deeper beauty in the work they do, while the parts which look beautiful may not be at all essential to life! But God has harmonised the whole body by giving importance of function to the parts which lack apparent importance, that the body should work together as a whole with all the members in sympathetic relationship with one another. So it happens that if one member suffers all the other members suffer with it, and if one member is honoured all the members share a common joy.
And if the ear shall say, Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body, is it therefore not of the body?
And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body.
And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body, not because of this is it not a part of the body.
And what would you think if you heard an ear say, “I am not part of the body because I am only an ear and not an eye”? Would that make it any less a part of the body?
I want you to think about how all this makes you more significant, not less. A body isn’t just a single part blown up into something huge. It’s all the different-but-similar parts arranged and functioning together. If Foot said, “I’m not elegant like Hand, embellished with rings; I guess I don’t belong to this body,” would that make it so? If Ear said, “I’m not beautiful like Eye, transparent and expressive; I don’t deserve a place on the head,” would you want to remove it from the body? If the body was all eye, how could it hear? If all ear, how could it smell? As it is, we see that God has carefully placed each part of the body right where he wanted it.
And if the ear says, “Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body?
And if the ear should say, “Since I am not an eye, I am not part of the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body.
Or suppose an ear says, “I’m not an eye, so I’m not a part of the body!” Would that mean it’s no longer part of the body?
Or if an ear should say, “Because I am not an eye I do not belong to the body,” it does not for this reason belong any less to the body.
And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any less a part of the body.
And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body.
Or if an ear were to say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it nevertheless still belongs to the body.
The ear might say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not part of the body.” But saying this would not stop the ear from being a part of the body.
And if the ear says, “Since I am not an eye, I am not part of the body,” it does not lose its membership in the body because of that.
And suppose the ear says, “I am not an eye. So I don’t belong to the body.” By saying this, it cannot stop being part of the body.
And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.
And if the ear should say, ‘Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,’ it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.
And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body?
If the ear should say, “I am not a part of the body because I am not an eye,” that would not stop it from being a part of the body.
And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body?
And if the ear said, I am not the eye, therefore I am not of the body, is it therefore not of the body?
And if the ear were to say, ‘Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body’, that would not make it any less a part of the body.
And if the ear were to say, ‘Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body’, that would not make it any less a part of the body.
And if the ear would say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
And if the ear would say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
And if the ear were to say, “Because I’m not an eye, I’m not part of the body,” that wouldn’t make it any less a part of the body, would it?
And if the ozen (ear) says, "Because I am no ayin (eye), I am not of the body," that would not make it any less one of the evarim of the body.
And if the ear would say, ‘Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body’, is it therefore not of the body?
And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
And if the ear says, “Since I’m not an eye, I’m not part of the body,” is it for this reason any less part of the body?
And what about an ear? If an ear started to whine, “I am not an eye; I shouldn’t be attached to this body,” in all its pouting, it is still part of the body.
If the ear would say, “Because I’m not the eye, I’m not part of the body,” it’s not therefore not part of the body.
Perhaps the ear says, `I am not the eye, so I do not belong to the body.' But it is still a part of the body.
And if the ear saith [And if the ear shall say], For I am not the eye, I am not of the body; not therefore it is not of the body [not therefore is it not of the body(?)].
and if the ear may say, `Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body;' it is not, because of this, not of the body?
